A SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND FOR CARRERA ATHLETES
It was an amazing weekend for Carrera cycling athletes, who won two of the most important stages of “La Vuelta de España”.
The success began on Saturday, when Carrera gained the podium of the 14th stage at the uphill arrival at La Farrapona.The protagonist of the stage was the young and talented Rein Taaramae. The Estonian athlete of the Cofidis started a breakway in the morning and crossed the finishing line first, achieving his first big win in a famous tour. Also Geox-Tmc did a great job, completing the podium with Cobo and De La Fuente and showing an excellent team performance which led to the second and third position, and the first place in the stage and overall team classification.
The weekend went on with the unbelievable success of Juanjo Cobo, named as “Bisonte de la Pesa” who won the strategic stage of the Spanish race on the legendary finish line on Angliru, also capturing the red jersey for the leader in the general classification, and the white jersey for the “Combination” classification. For the thirty-year-old Spanish athlete, this is the second stage victory in the Vuelta España after the won he obtained in 2009. Rounding out the success for the GEOX team was also the third place that went to Denis Menchov , who rises to the sixth place in the general classification.
It was another fantastic team test for GEOX-TMC which reaffirmed itself today as the most solid formation in this Vuelta 2011.
