CARRERA AND JOAQUIM RODRIGUEZ ARE THE NEW PINK JERSEY
Everybody was expecting Katusha, particularly Joaquim Rodriguez, in Assisi, where the tenth stage of "Giro d'Italia" finished: and both the Spanish rider and his team didn't fall short of expectations. 'Purito' defeated everybody with a strong rush with 200 meters to go: before, the Russian Team worked hard all day long with all his members in order to keep the breakaway and all the attacks under control. Then, in the last kilometer, a well-known script: Dani Moreno imposed his pace over the group before the irresistible attack by Rodriguez, that found no rivals. Thanks to this performance now the leader of Katusha Team will be at the Assisi start with the pink jersey: the former leader of general classification, Ryder Hesjedal, is second with a 17'' gap; Roman Kreuziger (Astana) is 52'' behind, Ivan Basso (Liquigas-Cannondale) 57'', Michele Scarponi(Lampre)1'11''. "I'm very happy for today's win - said Rodriguez - I know I was the big favorite for this stage: it wasn't easy though, because everybody was waiting for us, so that was amazing. My teammates did a great job, we leaded the group all day long, so I have to thank them for this victory. And also Valerio Piva: he strongly wanted me to be in pink jersey today, and he suggest me to start my rush not to early because he knew the route. Now we'll do our best to keep this jersey as much as we can, even if during next days there won't be stages suitable to my characteristics: and if things won't go well, we can always say we won a stage and we had the pink jersey, which was the only one I was missing in a Grand Tour. I think it will grow our confidence: I won a stage in 'Tirreno-Adriatico', I triumphed in 'Fleche-Wallonne', the team is strong, so we have to keep up and fight for final win. I gained some more seconds over all the others and that's important, but I think Michele Scarponi and Ivan Basso are still my favourites. I don't know very well the the climbings of the last week, but if I have to choose my favourite it's definitely Mortirolo, because it's very famous in Spain too". Joaquim Rodriguez and the Katusha Team are wearing the CARRERA RADIUS WHITE RED, a revolutionary helmet developed using the innovative “ATF” (Aluminium Tech Frame) system, offering the best aerodynamic penetration (CX), which is synonymous of optimized internal ventilation and less frontal air resistance.
