SKI WORLD CUP: Croatia, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia
This first month of 2010 has been quite intense for the Carrera team, which is investing its last energies in the Ski World Cup before the beginning of the Games of Vancouver.
Great recovery by Carlo Janka. After a gold medal in the Downhill race of Wengen (Jan 15th) and a silver one in the Super Combined (Jan 17th), he finally succeeded in overcoming his rival Raich and gaining the first place in the overall ranking with 757 points. We have also attended a good performance by Manfred Moelgg in the Special Slalom of Zagreb (Jan 6th), second place after the Italian Giuliano Razzoli. No podiums for Michael Walchhofer, who managed anyway to keep his 5th place in the overall ranking.
Up and downs for our ladies instead. While Anja Paerson steps up to the podium in the Downhill race, in the Super Giant (Haus im Ennstal, Jan 9th-10th) and in the Giant Slalom (Maribor, Jan 16th), Manuela Moelgg reaches the tenth place both in the Flachau Special Slalom (Jan 12th) and in the Maribor Giant Slalom. Anja progresses then in the overall ranking from the fifth to the forth place, while Manuela just gets the 13th. Elizabeth Goergl unfortunately falls down too, from the 8th to the 9th place.
Next appointments: Jan 22nd-23rd-24th in Kitzbhuel for the male Downhill, Super Giant and Special Slalom races; while in the meantime ladies will be skiing in Cortina D'Ampezzo (Downhill, Super Giant and Giant Slalom).
