TOUR DE FRANCE-KATUSHA: THE FIRST WEEK REVIEW
At the end of the 99th Tour’s first week, it’s the time to review the performance of Team Katusha.
Denis Menchov is fifth in general chart with a 3’04” gap from the yellow jersey Wiggins (Sky). Wiggins has also to pay attention to Cadel Evans (1’53”), to his team mate Froome (2’07”) and to Nibali (2’23”).
Bad news are coming from some components of the team who were involve in some serious crashes. The worst one was Freire’s, who got three broken ribs and had to quit the Tour.
Denis Menchov after the Besançon time trial stage said: “I think it was a good result, even if it wasn’t the best I could get. I think I can improve my classification in the next two weeks, so I’m still optimistic for the rest of the competition”.
Now the Tour is getting harder, with the two classical Pyrenees’s stages: the first one is the Limoux - Foix, which has some sections close to an 18% gradient, and the second one that goes from Pau to Bagnares-de-Luchon, a 197 km stage, where are included all the best Pyrenees’s mountain pass.
Denis Menchov and the Katusha Team are wearing the CARRERA RADIUS WHITE RED, a revolutionary helmet developed using the innovative “ATF” (Aluminium tech frame) system, offering the best aerodynamic penetration (CX), which is synonymous of optimized internal ventilation and less frontal air resistence.
